Investing in Justice Access

Nearly all human trafficking survivors face unresolved legal needs, and they’re eager to make the exploitation-to empowerment transition. With your support, we can recruit more Legal First Responders to serve more survivors in more jurisdictions than ever before!

Why Support The Joseph Project?

The Mission

is Critical

Investing in justice access empowers both survivors and their communities. When survivors’ legal issues are resolved, their educational opportunities, employment prospects, housing options, and benefits eligibility all expand dramatically. The delivery of free legal aid yields an exceptionally high social return on investment (SROI). According to one Michigan-based legal aid report, for every $1 invested in legal aid services, beneficiaries average $6.69 in immediate and long-term consequential financial benefits - a 669% return on investment!

The Model
is Proven

Our pro bono, volunteer-based model is both effective and economical. Rather than hiring staff attorneys to serve survivors within a limited geographic area, we extend the protections of law to a vulnerable victim population whose legal needs often cross jurisdictional boundaries, thereby invoking unique procedural and licensure requirements.

The Method
is Effective

We have successfully identified and serviced hundreds of trafficked individuals through the following service activities:

  • We generate client referrals through the creation and dissemination of trafficking-related presentations, social media campaigns, media interviews, and multimedia productions.

  • We perform extensive in-house legal work to ensure successful client outcomes, including legal research, document collection, file assembly, and case tracking.

  • We expand our Legal First Responders network by sponsoring legal conferences, bar association events, and victim service provider summits.

  • We conduct both in-person and virtual training sessions to equip our Legal First Responders to represent survivors effectively.

  • We cover the court costs, fines, and fees associated with survivors’ legal proceedings, as well as the out-of-pocket expenses that Legal First Responders incur in the course of survivor representation.

The Message
 is Timeless

The pursuit of justice is a worthy endeavor that closely aligns with God’s priorities. Your generosity is a tangible expression of the timeless Biblical call to seek justice and defend the oppressed (Isaiah 1:17).
