TJP Releases New Immigration Training Session

The Joseph Project has released a new immigration training session for Legal First Responders. Entitled Immigration Relief for Human Trafficking Survivors, the session describes the legal options available to trafficked individuals according to their immigration status. It was filmed in collaboration with Alice Kay, a Houston-based immigration attorney with over 20 years of combined public and private sector immigration law practice experience.

Each year, thousands of foreign nationals are illegally trafficked into the U.S. from other countries. This problem is exacerbated by unchecked border migration,” said Nate Knapper, The Joseph Project’s Founder and CEO. “Trafficking victims require legal assistance to navigate the complexities of the immigration system. We thank Alice Kay and Kay Immigration Law, PLLC, for equipping our Legal First Responders network to help survivors access the relief afforded to them under U.S. law.

Immigration Relief for Human Trafficking Survivors is the fourth installment in The Joseph Project’s Legal First Responder training series. The previous three installments – Introduction to Human TraffickingTrauma-Informed Legal Practice, and Representing Human Trafficking Survivors – may also be viewed here.
